What is somatic therapy?

Somatic therapy, simply put, is an umbrella term for a healing modality in which we listen to and get to know the body and what it is showing us. The answers we are seeking are in our body, so when we practice being together with what it is showing us, we have the opportunity to heal and transform. It is amazing what comes forward when we are actually supported in turning toward ourselves.  My personal approach is rooted in Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy and Somatic Intuitive Healing® therapy, and otherwise pulls from the wisdom of yoga, psychedelic facilitation, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I offer an intuitive amalgam of these modalities to help you connect with your body and release tension, trauma, emotional material and stress. We might use a variety of techniques, including somato-psychic exploration, breathwork, guided meditation, presencing, movement, gentle bodywork, visualization, and music/sound to support your healing journey.

Why somatic therapy?

Somatic therapy offers deep nervous system nourishment and support, education, and a deeper understanding of yourself, your story and what you need. Somatic work for trauma processing and psychedelic integration is for anyone desiring better self-understanding, self-empwerment, self-compassion and love. It is for anyone wanting to feel more connected to themselves and walk in the world with more ease, peace and power. It is for folks who do not feel they have control over their lives, who are experiencing chronic anxiety and/or depression, chronic nervous system dysregulation, have ptsd, c-ptsd, and folks who have experiences they want to engage with but need support around. I am currently finishing a training in somatic therapy for eating disorders with ERED (Embodied Recovery for Eating Disorders) and will be specializing in this offering soon.

Somatic Psychedelic
Integration

Psychedelics can shake up our internal make-up, making aspects of our unconscious available to process into the conscious mind. This can open the door to deep transformation. But how do we *actually* take our ethereal and often wild experiences and apply the teachings to our lives to be in service to our healing and evolution (if this is what you desire)? How do we process challenging psychedelic experiences?  I facilitate the process of the meaning-making and assist you in the translation of your experience, helping to ground it into the context of your life. Your body says it all and through different techniques and approaches specific to you and your system, we learn to listen, understand, and transform. My approach is grounded in safety, regulation, intuition and connection. My aim is to support you in feeling empowered around your experience and story and to hold space as you open up to the wisdom within you.

ABOUT

ABOUT WILD TENDER SONG

IMG_2320.heic

Hi there! I´m Kastania. Welcome here.

I am a white, queer femme with Danish ancestry, hailing primarily from Nevada and Denmark with many international stops along the way. I currently live in Portland, OR and is where I offer somatic services.

A little on how I landed as a somatic practitioner:

I was brought to this path because of my insatiable zest to live and feel (and this was historically difficult for me). Additionally, I was moved to find the meaning in my adverse experiences and internal pain. The healing skillset I now possess has been crafted because I, too, deeply needed it - nay, was desperate for it. I sought healing and answers like a parent seeks their lost babe in an airport! For years, healing was all I lived and breathed. However, all the downloads, aha moments and releases I experienced truly became integrated as I sought somatic therapy and it is where I have chosen to land as a practitioner.  It is said that, ¨the body is the voice of the unconscious mind¨. I believe that to be skillfully supported in learning your body´s unique language is to walk away empowered, self-attuned, more deeply connected, and the doors to transformation open. This has been my experience and the experience of many of my clients and friends. I have created Wild Tender Song in response to the teachings I´ve received from my own ever-evolving healing journey and my experience as a decades-long yoga instructor, eating-disorder survivor and educator, trauma-informed microdose and psychedelic facilitator, sensual movement educator, bi-cultural identity, somatic practitioner, and transformation-addict. I also give deep gratitude to my amazing teachers (Jessica Garay, Patricia Keeler, Deborah Merkle, Rachel Lewis-Marlow, Vileena Purpuri) who have dedicated themselves to their own healing and are generous in sharing their hard-earned wisdom.

So, why Wild Tender Song?

For me, the essence of the phrase moves me to remember to live a life born from my own unrelenting passion to live freely, fully, and authentically and to support others in doing the same. Supporting others in their courage to learn to feel and open up to all that tenderly exists inside each of them is an honor I hold sacred.

-Wild

because I believe in feeling unbound and free to be ones full, authentic self.

-Tender-

because the journey inward is brave, vulnerable, and sacred.

-Song-

because, like the songbird, we are here to live and share our unique song - our soul song.
